Perhaps the biggest addition to the game in 2019's festive event is the Crackshot Cabin, a new interactive lobby that rewards players with free gifts if they log in each day.

After logging in, players can go to Crackshot's Cabin from the lobby, and open up a free present.

Various areas of the lobby are interactable, and many actually double up as one of the daily challenges. For instance, you'll be able to get presents from the stockings over the fireplace each day, or just warm yourself by said fire.

Here's everything you need to know about it.

How do the presents work?

"Drop in the in-game lobby to see a brand new snowflake tab", say developers Epic Games. "By clicking on it, you'll be taken to the Winterfest Lodge.

"Every day for 14 days, you may unwrap a new Present at the Lodge. Inside are two Outfits, two Gliders, two Pickaxes, two Wraps, one Emote, and more — all exclusive to this years' Winterfest!

"You might be wondering: how do I get all the things? Just prepare your shaking and guessing skills — the Presents are free for everyone to open.

"The Lodge is full of Presents, and each day you can return and unwrap a new one. If you miss any days, simply come back before 7 January to open them up."

It appears that the contents of each present are random, so though you will eventually get your hands on all of the free loot if you open them all, there's no set order to what might come out of each box.

That's barring one large present - the Millennium Falcon-shaped gift which, unsurprisingly, contains a Millennium Falcon-themed glider, in keeping with the recent Star Wars crossovers we've seen with the game.

There's also a large present at the back of the cabin which as yet cannot be opened.

It's thought you won't get to see what's inside this one until the end of the event, and that it will contain a highly sought-after new skin, gifted from Epic.

How do the challenges work?

"Don't forget the stocking stuffers!" continue Epic. "Hanging on the fireplace of the Winterfest Lodge is a stocking full of more rewards to unlock.

"Check your stocking each day to get a new Challenge that you can complete for rewards and XP. And as with the Presents, don't worry if you miss a day — visit the stocking before 7 January and grab all the goodies waiting for you."

Thankfully, ahead of the Winterfest event's launch, Fortnite's always on it leakers revealed the list of challenges after delving through the game's files.

"Also, each day from December 18 to January 2, you'll be greeted with some of your favourite LTMs, including Wick's Bounty, Arsenal, and more. Plus, Zone Wars will be running throughout the holidays!"

Again, leakers have been on the case, and have unveiled which weapons are expected to be unvaulted across the event's duration. Each unvaulted weapon or item will only be available for 24 hours.
